A New Tub
For the sum of £87 I purchased a new tub from ebay. I have realised that I should have spent more time searching, spent a little extra and bought a better conditioned one, but you live and learn. It was a lot better than my original and someone has already replaced the wheel arches (how well I am not so certain).
I scraped it clean to find the holes and patches. I borrowed a welder from Richard at Ecclesall Garages. I had never welded before and my first attempts were comical. I am very embarrassed looking at them now and will probably have to replace them again now I have gained some competence with a MIG. What I have learnt is to use 0.6 wire on the thin metal of the tub. All I did with 0.9 was burn holes.
Originally I started painting it in red oxide. Again I have taken a few things on board and I now Phosphate first then use Epoxy-Mastic. Again, it's all trial and error.
