Engine Clean Up
Despite not knowing if the engine will actually turn over any more... I decided to clean it up ready to put it back onto the chassis. First I took off the carb. It turns out that it is a Zenith and not the standard Solex. From what I can see they are very similar and the two companies actually merged at some point. There is a broken spring and I'll need gaskets of course so I need to track down a supplier. It's all cleaned up now.
The manifold has two studs broken off. I bought replacements on ebay rather than get it machined.
The gearbox was taken off. I'm looking for a new clutch. I did buy a cheap one off ebay but its was the wring type.
The engine was cleaned with Gunk and then painted with high temperature black paint. I think it looks good. I gave the starter and dynamo a clean and paint too. I might be going back to the standard rocker cover at some point.
