Finally it's time for paint
I had a choice. To save on costs I decided to prep the car myself. I got it to s stage that I was happy with. I want it to work, drive and look ok. I don't want to show the car.
I had quotes engine from £3500 to £750 for the top coat. I got the impression that I was looking for something very different from the paint shops. I don't want perfection.
After putting a post on Club Triumph asking for advice someone told me about roller painting with Rustoleum. I thought it was daft at first but reading into it, a lot of people do this with VW vans. There are some good posts on You Tube. I decided to go for it. The whole paint job will only cost me around £120. I won't be charging myself for my own labour.
I'm calling it coach painting. It sounds better than roller painting.
After saving so much money on the painting, I ordered the one missing panel, the rear valance, from T D Fitchetts. I welded on the bumper strip, etch coated it and it's good to go.
