Buying and MOT
The car was purchased for £350 and driven from Chesterfield to Sheffield on trade plates curtesy of a friend with a garage. There were a number of things that needed doing to get the MOT. An outrigger needed welding. New exhaust. The petrol tank needed replacing and the brake master cylinder refurbishing/replacing and the lights sorting. Not too bad, I thought. So, it passed and apart from the welding I had done it all myself. I had a few months driving it around and fixing the brakes every now and then. It was great fun.
Reality Bites
I couldn't resist probing the rusty bits. What I found has resulted in a full restoration. The whole tub was rotten. The bulkhead looked OK. The chassis I thought was repairable, but more on that later.
